  Sole designer & developer2024-26

  Octopus replaced a paper-and-fax process that had survived since 1955. It started as a single warranty manager on a Raspberry Pi and is now the system the whole shop depends on. The interesting part was never the CRUD — it was getting people who'd trusted a notebook for decades to trust a screen, by making the software genuinely less work than the paper it replaced.   Solo — product, platform, and the spec-driven build process2026

  The product is simple: a durable printed tag whose QR is platform-owned, so a pet's details stay updatable forever with no external link to break. The interesting part is how it gets built. WagTaggy is my testbed for a spec-driven, agentic dev loop — a rough idea becomes a precisely-scoped GitHub issue (context, problem, solution as what not how, scope in and out, tests, binary acceptance criteria), labelled claude-ready.   Solo — design & build2026

  The old portfolio was a thin JavaScript SPA on Netlify — fine, but client-rendered and invisible to crawlers, with nowhere real to write. This rebuild is a bespoke Laravel app: server-rendered Blade for speed and SEO, a Filament panel where I author posts, projects, and case studies, and a full-page response cache so it stays as fast as the static version it replaced. Building the thing the portfolio runs on is itself the portfolio — the stack on display is the stack I work in.
